The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched in 1969 to provide opportunity to
youth in the universities and colleges to serve the society they are living in.
It aims the activities of social service and nation building which would also put
forward opportunities to the students to understand and realize the problems of
the communities, awaken social consciousness and to establish a constructive linkage
between the campus and the community.

NSS unit of SVITS is continuously putting its sincere efforts to develop sensitive,
responsible and self motivated future citizens. Consequent upon this, following
activities were put into operation to associate futures technocrats with social
and human issues.
|
- In the NSS day Celebration on 24th September 08,
slides show on the intro and motto of NSS depicted along with the brief review of
activities organized in the recent past and proposed for forthcoming session.
|
- A Plantation Campaign was organized on 15th Oct
’08 in the campus in association with “Art of Living foundation”.
Campaign has grand success not just due to more than 1000
students participated or more than 400 tree plants were implanted but the
reason is most of the plants are well taken care of and survived till date.

- A team of TISR (Tata Institute of Social Research), Mumbai
visited the campus on 21st Oct ’08 and a survey is conducted for ministry of HRD
with the help of NSS volunteers regarding the issues to be taken up by the nss.
|
- On 1st Dec ‘08 “Aids day” awareness regarding
the prevention of Aids was spread through posters displayed in campus.
|
- NSS svits organized an audio-video show “Safety on Roads”
on 08th Dec’08 in association with the students of MGM Medical
College, Indore.
|
- Development of Website of NNS SVITS is under process, which will make
Blood donor’s directory accessible on line.

INTRODUCTION :
|
|
PRAYATNA is a mission carried out by the CS and IT students of SVITS. The members
of this committee are involved in social service for computer awareness and computer
education in rural areas. The main motive is to give them the basic knowledge about
computers. The members go to nearby villages and tell them about computers and its
usage through clips, animation etc. they teach them some basics regarding computers,
hardware parts, MS-WORD, flash games, paint brush, calculator etc. . Games and other
sort of competitions are also conducted among rural children and are awarded as
per their performance. An interactive session of question answer round is also conducted
among students and the one who asks or answers a question is awarded.

OBJECTIVE :

“To Provide adequate basic computer knowledge to the rural children in order to
evoke curiosity and inspiration so that they step forward towards their future in
computers.”

FEATURES:
|
• Prayatna helps village children to know “what computer is ?” and “what wonders
it can do “
• Prayatna currently consist of around 30-35 members out of which 10-15 members
go for visits turn by turn .
• Prayatna group has already made visits to about 18 villages across m.p. targeting
more than 20 schools.
• Prayatna has reached and taught around 10700 rural children till now.
• Prayatna is not a mission it’s a revolution !!! |
