About Textile Association (India)

TAI is the foremost textile professional body in India & the largest in the world.TAI
has over 20000 members in 27 Units all over India.
|
|
TAI provides for professional growth of technologists managers, entrepreneurs, researchers,
teachers and consultants on the Indian textile scene.
|
|
Membership is open to all connected with the textile industry, trade, education
and research as individuals or as organizations. Individuals can acquire student,
ordinary, overseas, life or patron membership.
|
|
The Objects of the Association are:-
|
|
i) |
To promote and stimulate the thought and knowledge of the science of textile technology
and its communication.
|
|
ii) |
To provide appropriate forum for exchange of knowledge, experience and ideas in
textile production.
|
|
iii) |
To provide opportunities and facilities for learning textile technology and management
through lectures, discussions, trainings etc., to the members of the Association.
|
|
iv) |
To conduct professional examinations and granting competency certificates, diplomas
and degrees to technologists by examination or by applications. |
|
v) |
To print and publish books, booklets, pamphlets, periodicals and other publications
and to prepare and circulate video cassettes etc.,
|
|
vi) |
To print and publish official Journal of the Association which will include articles
and news on textile technology, fibers, machineries, manufacturing processes, quality
standards. |

vii) |
To collect and disseminate statistical and other information’s relating to technology,
production capacity, raw materials, machineries, man power. |
|
viii) |
To establish, run and maintain reading room and library having books, papers and
periodicals for study and references. |
|
|
Activities
|
|
i) |
Organisation of lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences to disseminate useful
information on topics of current interest to different segments of the industry.
|
|
ii) |
Publication of a journal devoted to new work in applied industrial research in all
areas of textiles, for members and subscribers.
|
|
iii) |
Publication of low cost booklets and books of practical value to the practicing
professionals - technologists and managers - in the Indian textile industry.
|
|
iv) |
Award of Fellowship (FTA) or Associateship (ATA) to recognize the capability and
the contribution of members; and also the award of Graduate Membership. (GMTA)
|
|
v) |
National level recognition of just two individuals each year by awarding one Honorary
Membership and one Honorary Fellowship.
|
|
vi) |
Recommendation of policy alternatives to the Government of India and to the industry
at appropriate times.
|
|
vii) |
Organisation of socio - cultural activities as local level events in each Unit of
the Association. Sectoral Professional Body of India Largest single Industry - Textile.

|
Textile Student Chapter - SVITS
|
|
The Student Chapter of Textile Association (India) – M. P. Unit has been inaugurated
at Shri Vaishnav Institute of Technology & Science, Indore on 19th March 2005. It
was inaugurated by Mr. Ashok Veda, Vice Chairman, TAI – M. P. Unit. Dr. B. M. Singhi,
Principal of the institute spoke about the bright future of textile industries in
the post WTO scenario. Mr. T. K. Sinha, Head of Textile Department talked about
the activity and the future plans of the department. Mr. Ashok Veda said that today
there are almost eight thousand members in the TAI all over India and the activity
of Textile Association of India – M. P. Unit is increasing day-by-day. In the inauguration
function Mr. R. C. Prayag, Assistant Director, ATIRA, Ahmedabad gave a speech of
innovative methods for solving the technical problems. Near about 100 students took
the membership on this occasion. Mr. T. K. Sinha had been appointed as Chairman
of the Student Chapter of Madhya Pradesh and Mr. Ajay Shankar Joshi as a co-chairman.
The programme was conducted by the students of the institute Ms. Richa Johari and
Mr. Apoorva Sharma. The vote of thanks was given by Ms. Ritu Jain, Lecturer.
